KADAPA: Police parties continued their hunt on Saturday for six Maoists who are said to have escaped from Friday's encounter in Errasila in Gopavaram reserve forests here, in which nine naxals were gunned down. Kurnool Range DIG, K.R.M. Kishore Kumar is camping at Badvel to monitor combing operations. Kadapa SP Y. Nagi Reddy and OSD (Operations) A.S.C. Wesley oversaw transportation of the naxals' bodies to Badvel Government Hospital. The police officials reached the spot of encounter at 10 a.m. Badvel MRO, Gangulu and Gopavaram MRO, Prakash conducted inquest on the bodies. Fifteen naxals were camping in the forest when the police party spotted them and appealed to them to surrender. The police only returned the fire, the SP said. Armed personnel took control of Badvel Government hospital when the bodies were brought in on Saturday.
Post-mortem conducted
Doctors from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences of Kadapa conducted post-mortem in the presence of the DIG. Relatives of the slain Maoists were brought to the hospital by the police. Appa Rao alias Obulesu, who was killed in the encounter, was an Intermediate student when he joined the naxal movement in 1982, his brother, Sambasiva Rao told newsmen.
