Reliance slashes diesel price
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
With the crude oil prices in the international market showing a decline, Reliance Industries Limited, has reduced the price of diesel being sold from its outlets across the country.
The company has already brought down the petrol prices that are now ranging between Rs. 53 and Rs. 55 a litre while the diesel price has now been pegged at Rs. 36 a litre, the Reliance Petroleum Dealers Welfare Association president S Maruthi said.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said the differential prices earlier had affected the business of the Reliance dealers. They lost almost 90 per cent of their business, amounting to Rs. 2-3 lakhs a month on an average, since the price was increased in April this year.
However, following the representation made by 800 dealers in the country, including 80 in the State, the company had decided to bring down the prices. It had also expressed willingness to maintain prices on par with those offered by the public sector oil companies in future, he added.
