New stops for Chennai train

CHENNAI: Train number 2695/2696, Chennai Central - Thiruvananthapuram - Chennai Central (daily) super fast expresses will stop at Kayamkulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Changanassery and Katpadi from November 15 on an experimental basis, according to a Southern Railway press release. — Special Correspondent

Sri Sri Ravishankar to participate

Thiruvananthapuram: Sri Sri Ravishankar, the spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation will participate in the silver jubilee celebrations of the movement being held in Kochi on November 28. The highlight of the function would be a Mohiniyattam performance by 1,500 artistes from all over the country. He will also conduct a course by name `Punarnava' at the Kaloor International Stadium from November 29 to December 1. According to the Foundation, it was aimed at providing health and happiness through simple and effortless exercises and spiritual sensation of the highest degree by blending meditation and knowledge dissemination. Meeting convened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government has convened a meeting of recognised teachers and students' organisations in Thiruvananthapuram on November 15 to discuss the setting up of a democratic forum for Plus Two students. The Director of Higher Secondary Education said here on Saturday that the meeting would get under way at Adhyapaka Bhavan at 11.30 a.m. He asked the representatives of recognised teachers and students organisations to attend the meeting. — Special Correspondent

SFI leader arrested

THRISSUR: SFI district secretary K.I. Shabir and six other students were arrested for allegedly assaulting Anto, father of Gopika, film actor, at a cinema here on Friday night. The students were released on bail. Anto complained to the police that Shabir had a quarrel with him at the theatre. Shabir, on the other hand, alleged that Anto had assaulted him. — Staff Reporter

Plea to revise EPF pension

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The All Kerala MILMA Retired Employees Association has called for an immediate revision of the pension of EPF pensioners. Pattom N. Sasidharan, president of the association, said in a statement here on Saturday that the pension ranging from Rs.325 to Rs.600 paid to the EPF pensioners now was grossly inadequate— Special Correspondent

Stamp design contest

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Department of Posts will organise a stamp design contest for schoolchildren in Pathanamthitta and Thiruvalla on November 14. The contest in Pathanamthitta will be held at Mar Thoma Higher Secondary School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to Superintendent of Post Offices P.C. Geevarghese. In Thiruvalla, the contest will be held at the Head Post Office complex.

The theme of the contest would be `Magic of night.' Those who wish to participate may submit their applications to the Superintendent of Post Offices in Pathanamthitta and Thiruvalla, through their respective schools on or before November 14.
