SEZs: AIFB to pressure Centre

Berhampur (Orissa): Left parties will mount pressure on the UPA Government to review the present Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act and drop the tax and tariff holidays provided in the Act, All India Forward Block (AIFB) general secretary Debabrata Biswas said here on Saturday.

``The so called SEZ will not generate any employment. Rather the Government will lose crores of rupees through tax holidays,'' the AIFB MP told reporters here.

The Government had earlier created Export Economic Zone (EEZ) exclusively for the purpose of exporting goods but could not achieve its goal, he said. — PTI
