CHANDIGARH: Farmers in Haryana will be given short-term agricultural credit at the interest rate of seven per cent instead of 10 per cent being charged currently, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday while inaugurating the new building of the District Central Co-operatiave Bank at Kaithal. Mr. Hooda also announced that crop loans amounting to Rs. 5,400 crores would be given to the farmers during 2006-07. He disclosed that the number of branches of cooperative banks had been increased from 358 to 600 .
