CHENNAI: The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Chennai, observed the "Vigilance Awareness Week" at the airport here. Director Dinesh Kumar administered the pledge to all officials working at the airport. P. Shanker, former Central Vigilance Commissioner; D. Viswanathan, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University; Ashok Kumar, Joint Director (South), Central Bureau of Investigation; C.L. Ramakrishnan, former Director-General of Police, Tamil Nadu; Bharathy Bhaskar, vice-president, Citibank; and N. Vijayaraghavan, from the Office of the Member Audit Board, Government Audit, were among those who gave guest lectures. During the week, agencies such as airlines, customs and the Central Industrial Security Force were invited to increase transparency both within the organisation and inter-organisation. The pledge was taken throughout the week instead of only on the first day. Air Cargo Complex employees were given exclusive presentation Mr. Kumar to sensitise them on vigilance aspects as they had regular interface with trade representatives. An information brochure on the Chennai airport, including phone numbers of airport managers, AAI's public grievance officer, the Airport Director was released by Mr. Shanker.
