dated November 13, 1956: Milk colony for Madras

The Madras Government will shortly appoint a Milk Commissioner in the grade of a Collector to be in charge of the Milk Colony proposed to be started at Madhavaram near Madras. The scheme, costing about Rs.123 lakhs, provides for the evacuation of 4,000 heads of cattle from the highly congested areas in the city to the colony. It is also proposed to set up a dairy-bottling plant in the colony, which is expected to come into being within a couple of years.
