Land, cash for meritorious cops

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government will give plots of irrigation land and monetary rewards to the police personnel who get Police Service Medals for meritorious services. While the recipients of President's Police Medals will get Rs. 1 lakh each, those receiving Police Bravery Medals will get Rs. 50,000 each.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje making the announcement at the Rajasthan Police Day function here on Saturday, congratulated the police officials who got awards and promotions. She also inaugurated the newly-constructed auditorium of the Rajasthan Police Academy.

Ms. Raje said the figures cited by the National Crime Record Bureau, registering a reduction in the public order crime rate from 10 to 2.7 per 1-lakh population in the State, had indicated a significant improvement in the law and order situation. Attempts by the police machinery to control organised crimes had yielded positive results, she added.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over an increase in the number of women entering police services in the State and underlined the need to change the lifestyle of police personnel to keep them fit and healthy. Ms. Raje said the State Government had set the targets of modernisation of police force.Director General of Police A.S. Gill said the police force of the State had successfully met challenges on various fronts and generated people's faith.
