SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha is planning to organise a rally in Palampur on Monday along with the activists of Himachal Lok Morcha comprising of various Left organisations. The decision to participate in the All-India Jatha of Kissan Sabha, to be launched from Jallianwalla Bagh from Amritsar, would also be taken on the same day, informed president of Himachal Kissan Sabha Tikender Panwar. The Kissan Sabha of Himachal Pradesh is taking up several issues including a stop to the eviction of peasants from their land, rehabilitation of oustees from the land given for construction of dams and hydel projects in the State. It also plans to raise the issue of menace of wild animals in farm lands, minimum support price for milk, strengthening of PDS and awarding of timber distribution rights to the farmers. The State Kissan Sabha has demanded more public investment for increasing productivity and production, insulating a price stabilisation fund, expansion of credit facilities and crop insurance and ensuring of remunerative prices for agricultural commodities. It has also demanded a comprehensive protective legislation for agricultural workers, formation of a National Farmers Commission and passing of scheduled tribe recognition of forest rights bill with amendments. Mr. Panwar informed that more than 2000 farmers from the State would participate in the farmers' rally in Delhi on November 20.
