KPCC meet on Kerala development

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vichar Vibhag of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is organising a seminar on Monday on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations of the State. The seminar will be inaugurated by Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy and presided over by KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala. The Marxist ideologue P. Govinda Pillai; Aryadan Mohammed, MLA; and B.A. Prakash of the University of Kerala will present papers on "Kerala — yesterday, today, tomorrow," according to Nedumudi Harikumar, chairman of the Vichar Vibag. — Special Correspondent

Plea to check elephant trafficking

THRISSUR: The Elephant Lovers' Forum has urged the State Government to check alleged traffic of captive elephants. In a statement here on Sunday, the forum alleged that there were moves to transport captive elephants from Bihar to Kerala without valid documents, such as no-objection certificates from the Chief Wildlife Warden. "Such moves violate provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972,'' the forum said. — Staff Reporter

Applications invited

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Applications have been invited for admission to LL.M. (administrative law and international law) and MBL courses in the Kerala Law Academy Law College, Peroorkada, for the academic year 2006-07. Candidates who have passed the LL.B. examination of the University of Kerala are eligible for admission. The application forms can be had from the college office. The last date for submitting completed application forms is November 20, a press note here said. — Staff Reporter
