GUNTUR: Vernacular daily `Vaartha' has distributed six lorry loads of essentials to cyclone `Ogni' victims in Guntur district in four mandals benefiting about 3,000 persons.

This has been one of the best efforts being made by a non governmental organisation for the flood relief work. With winter setting in people were pleased to receive about 1,000 blankets, similar number of dhotis, about 2,500 sarees and 650 mats.

Among other items distributed by them during the last 10 days in Nagaram, Cherukupalli, Bhattiprolu, and Tenali mandals of the district are 22,500 packets of biscuits for children, more than 500 steel utensils. The organisation had been delivering the material directly to the people through its field staff in cooperation with Revenue Department officials at the Relief Camps in these four mandals that were severely affected by the cyclone.
