Federer, Roddick win
In Shanghai, Roger Federer and Andy Roddick, both riding their big serves, opened the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup with three-set victories on Sunday. Leander Paes and Martin Damm's campaign began on a wrong note going down 6-7(6), 6-4, 3-6 to Australian Paul Hanley and Zimbabwe's Kevin Ullyett in the Red Group tie in two hours and 10 minutes.
