Its American College HSS vs St. Britto HSS

Madurai: The final of the 15th annual Jayaraj Chelladurai Trophy State-level inter-school basketball tournament organised by MNU Jayaraj Nadar HSS at Nagamalai near here will be a repeat of last year's final.

In the semifinals, the defending champion, American College HSS, Madurai beat St. Mary's HSS, Madurai 62-41.

The scores: (semifinals):

American College HSS 62 (Saravanan 22, Arunkumar 18, Arun 10) bt St. Mary's HSS 41 (Jenifer 10, Srinivasan 10); St. Britto HSS 49 (Vignesh 20, George Philip 12) bt MNU JN HSS 38 (Gowtham 10, Praveen 12).

Nike CC posts win

Nike CC, Oddanchatram, helped by half centuries by Saravanan (54) and P. Rajesh (52), chalked out a 37- run victory over Majestic Cricket Club in the Dindigul District Cricket Association first division league at Dindigul on Sunday.

The scores:

First division: Nike CC Oddanchatram 201 for nine in 40 overs (Saravanan 54, P. Rajesh 52, P. Rajamohan four for 29) bt Majestic CC 164 in 39.3 overs (B. Saravana Kumar 42, J. Princely Samuel 70).

Second division: Vaigai CC 77 for eight in 20 overs lost to Mansur Youngster CC 78 for four in 15.1 overs.

Third division: Godson group CC 87 for nine in 20 overs lost to Perfect CC 88 for three in 16.3 overs.

Eriodu CC 152 for eight in 22 overs (P. Senthilkumar 42) bt Play Boy CC 117 for seven in 22 overs (M. Senthil Kumar 48).

Seeni Bala CC Vedasandur 157 for five in 23 overs (V. Rajkumar 52 not out) bt Azhar CC 79 in 17 overs.

Khaja Mian triumphs

Khaja Mian Higher Secondary School, Tiruchi lifted the SMBM Trophy, defeating American College HSS, Madurai 3-0 in the final of the fourth State-level inter-school invitation football tournament organised by SMBM HSS at Dindigul on Sunday.

Nasiruddin scored a brace and Saravanakumar scored the other goal.

Earlier in the semifinals, American College HSS beat NLC HSS, Neyveli by a solitary goal scored by Aravind. Khaja Mian HSS beat YMCA HSS, Chennai 3-2. Thiaulogasundar, Sankar and Nasiruddin scored for Khaja Mian HSS. Balaj and Barani Kumar scored for YMCA School.

Karthik sparkles

A brace by Karthik helped Friends Football Club, Thirumangalam defeat Vikram Engineering College 2-0 in the Madurai District Football Association first division league for Hi-tech Arai Trophy at Madurai on Sunday.

In another match TVS Soccer Club held Acme Sports Club to a goalless draw.

The third match between South Zone Police and Sethu Football Club was abandoned 14 minutes from close due to heavy rain.

At that time Police was leading 2-0, James and Velmurugan being the scorers.

Laidlaw in final

Laidlaw Memorial School coasted to an eight-wicket victory over Stanes Higher Secondary School and entered the final of the NDCA under-15 inter-schools cricket tournament for the Selma Rolling Trophy at the St. Joseph's HSS in Coonoor on Sunday.

Laidlaw will now take on Lawrence in the title clash to be played on Tuesday.

The scores: Stanes 149 for eight in 40 overs (R. Shyam Nath 83 not out) lost to Laidlaw MS 151 for two in 31.2 overs (K. Gaurav Ganapathy 71 not out).

Big win for Kents CC

Kents Cricket Club thrashed an off-colour Rockers Cricket Club by 220 runs in the HPF Staff Club Rolling Trophy cricket tournament jointly organised by the Nilgiris District Cricket Association and HPF Staff Club at Udhagamandalam here on Sunday.

The scores: Kents CC 238 for nine in 40 overs (M.K. Sasikumar 43) bt Rockers CC 18 (A.R. Nizam six for nine, S. Dinesh Kumar four for nine).
