Nagpur to host first ODI against Windies

Mumbai: The first One-Day International between India and the West Indies will be held in Nagpur on January 21, 2007, according to the Tour Programme and Fixtures committee of the BCCI.

The committee, which met at Nagpur on Sunday, followed the rotation policy and awarded the other three matches to the Orissa Cricket Association (Cuttack), Tamil Nadu CA (Chennai) and Baroda CA (Baroda).

Sri Lanka tour

The four-match series against Sri Lanka, all day matches, has been allotted to Maharashtra CA (Pune), Saurashtra CA (Rajkot), Goa CA (Goa) and Andhra Pradesh CA (Visakhapatnam).

Women's Asia Cup

Meanwhile, women's cricket in India received a big boost with the BCCI deciding to host the Asia Cup next month and a four-nation tournament in February 2007.

India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will figure in the Asia Cup, while India, Australia, New Zealand and England will feature in the high-profile quadrangular event.

The BCCI, which decided to run the women's cricket in India at its AGM here in September, will also conduct an inter-state and inter-zonal knock-out championships.

The tournament format for the Asia Cup and the quadrangular will be finalised by the BCCI and representatives of the women's cricket.

Accordingly, the BCCI has asked the WCAI's Ranee Narah and Shubhangi Kulkarni to step down from their positions as President and Secretary.

The schedule: West Indies in India: Jan. 18, 2007 (arrive in Mumbai): Jan. 21: 1st ODI, Nagpur (day), Jan. 24: 2nd ODI, Cuttack (d/n), Jan. 27: 3rd ODI, Chennai (d/n), Jan. 30: 4th ODI, Baroda (day).

Sri Lanka in India: Feb. 6: Mumbai (warm-up game), Feb. 8: Ist ODI, Pune (day), Feb. 11: 2nd ODI, Rajkot (day), Feb. 14: 3rd ODI, Goa (day), Feb. 17: 4th ODI, Visakhapatnam (day).
