Touch Of Gold claims Speaker's Cup

Hyderabad: Touch Of Gold (Suraj Narredu up) claimed the Speaker's Cup, the main event of the races held here on Sunday (Nov. 12). The winner is the property of M/s. P.S. Reddy, B.S. Reddy, Penmethsa Ramachandra Raju and K.S.V. Prasad Raju and is trained by Prasad R.

Jockeys fined

In the Democracy Plate, jockey Satish Nayak (Battle Honour) was fined Rs.1,000 for using the whip with excessive frequency.

In the Srisailam Plate (Div. II), jockey R.B. Shinde (Royal Agenda) was fined Rs.1,000 for veering in at about the 400m and forcing in Racing Is Fun (app R. Umesh).

In the Hidden Bloom Plate (Div. II), app. Ashhad Asbar (Freak Fantasy) was fined Rs.1,000 for shifting in at about 100m after the start forcing in Don Vinton (Ravinder Singh) who in turn shifted in causing interference to Ujjaini (M.F. Ali Khan), Aaja Aaja (D. Singh) and for maintaining an erratic course in the straight.

In the Speakers Cup, jockey Suraj Narredu (Touch Of Gold) was fined Rs. 1,000 for shifting in, in the final stages of the race causing interference to Da Vinci Rose (A. Imran Khan).

Suspension revoked

The appeal lodged by jockey B.V. Krishnan (V Be Vigilant) was considered by the Board of Appeals at its meeting held on Thursday Nov. 9, 2006. The appeal was against the decision of the stewards of the Hyderabad Race Club for withdrawing Krishnan's license with effect from Nov. 9, 2006 upto and including March 31, 2007 and further not to grant him a license should he apply for one upto and including October 31, 2008 for not permitting his mount to run on its merit.

The board decided to set aside the punishment imposed by the stewards of the HRC and revoked the suspension.
