Two schoolgirls try to commit suicide

NALGONDA: Two schoolgirls attempted suicide for different reasons in Nalgonda and Miryalaguda towns in the district on Sunday.

According to information reaching here, Sravanthi (14), an eighth class student of a Government school in Bakalwada in Miryalaguda town, reportedly consumed pesticide. It was learnt that a doctor's family, where her mother works as a housemaid, had charged the girl with stealing Rs.100 from a house.

She is being treated at a private hospital in Miryalaguda, sources said.

In another case, a tenth class student, Uma Devi (16) of Ravindranagar, reportedly tried to immolate herself at her house in Nalgonda town. Her neighbours immediately rushed her to the District Headquarters Hospital where her condition was said to be serious.

The reason for her extreme step was not yet know. Police launched an investigation, sources said.
