Exploit trade sector growth: Karim

Call to provide the right venue for trade activities

KOZHIKODE : Industries Minister Elamaram Karim has said the trade and service sector potential of Kozhikode should be exploited to advantage with a view to giving a fillip to the industrial sector.

"It is with this end in view that a trade fair has been planned here, as the trade and service sector have registered commendable growth in the district compared to the industrial sector.

"Providing the right venue for trade activities will definitely open up possibilities in the production sector too, thereby enable the growth of industries side by side."

20-storeyed apartments

Mr. Karim was speaking after launching the 20-storeyed, super deluxe apartments Ellyzium Court of Galaxy Builders at a programme here on Sunday.

Mr. Elamaram Karim said creating specific zones for industry, trade, agriculture and housing should be the concern of future town planners, with focus on scientific planning so as not to cause environmental degradation.

He flayed the tendency to avail of exemption from the provisions of existing laws with a view to circumventing the laid down stipulations.
