The cover of `Mentoring, a practitioner's guide to touching lives'
HYDERABAD: The importance of mentoring to organisations and the "magical transformation" it brings about in them as also among employees was stressed by speakers at a book release function here on Saturday. "If our company got transformed from a local to a global one and the fourth best employer in India, much of the credit should go to mentoring," said G. V. Prasad, CEO of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. Releasing a book, "Mentoring, a practitioner's guide to touching lives", written by Sunil Unny Guptan, a leading trainer of human relations and communication, he said mentoring has been institutionalised in his organisation. B. R. Virmani, senior management consultant was present. Dr. Guptan described the book as a compilation of his long experience in mentoring, which he said was a life's strategy. "Mentors are very ordinary looking people with extraordinary capabilities. They make significant difference to the lives of others. Mentoring having lot of avatars from executive coaching to counselling helps individuals rework and reinvent themselves." Published by Sage India's Response, the book unravels the entire mentoring process from building mentor- mentee relationship to the precautions that need to be taken and ways in which organisational goals could be attained.
