House tax The authorities have decided to assess the house tax based on its plinth area. This is highly objectionable. It must be made applicable only to modern constructions. The houses of most farmers and villagers are huge quadrangular ones usually utilised for preserving agricultural produces, storing agricultural implements, accommodating livestock, etc. The tax on such old constructions should not be assessed on the basis of plinth area.
