FUTURE PROFESSIONALS: Students taking the test organised by Aspire Learning at Venkata Subba Rao School in Chennai on Sunday.
CHENNAI : Over 500 students from Classes 8 to 12 took a 45-minute test on Sunday to get an idea of what courses they could consider pursuing, given their aptitude and interests. Organised by Aspire learning, the test was meant to serve as a psychometric tool to help students decide if they should pursue Engineering or Medicine after school. With competition and the prevalent mark-centric education system putting great pressure on parents and students, such a test would help them get a fair idea, said a spokesperson of Aspire Learning. Senior academicians with experience in evaluation and testing were involved in the framing of the questions. The objective-type question paper had questions to evaluate interest levels, potential ad current levels of preparedness. Besides questions on basic maths or physics there were also questions aimed at bringing out the interests of each child. Nearly 140 city schools have signed up with Aspire Learning to have this test conducted for their students. A few students who had taken the test earlier came for a counselling session along with their parents. Aspire is offering the test for another week. Interested students may walk into any Aspire centre and give the test. For further details, call: 28341086 or 28342296.
