Nischitha enters semifinals

BANGALORE: G.M. Nischitha sailed into the semifinals of the Narasamma memorial State ranking badminton championships women's singles event with a 21-7, 21-8 victory over Vijaya Ramgopal at the Malleswaram Association courts here on Monday.

The other players to advance in to the last four round were Jacqueline Kunnath and Varsha Srinivas. In the under-13 singles semifinals, Vinay Hari defeated Satvik 22-20, 21-17. A start was made in the men's singles and all fancied players won their respective first round matches.

The results: Women's singles, quarterfinals: Jacqueline Kunnath bt Soujanya 21-3, 21-3; G.M. Nischitha bt Vijaya Ramgopal 21-7, 21-8; Varsha Srinivas w/o Sneha.

Boys: Under-13 singles, semifinals: Vinay Hari bt Satvik 22-20, 21-17.

Under-10 singles, semifinals: Mithun Manjunath bt Vashista 21-17, 21-18; S. Sudeep bt B.R. Sai Keerthi 21-15, 21-5.

Girls: Under-13 singles, semifinals: Taanya Ravi bt Rishika 21-13, 21-7; Reshma Karthik bt Poorvisha 21-19, 21-16.

Mandya girls win

Both the outstation teams on view, Mandya and Sports Hostel (Mysore) won their matches in the women's section of the State `A' division volleyball championship at Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Monday.

Mandya defeated Spikers 22-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-12 while Sports Hostel (Mysore) beat Shimoga 25-23, 25-11, 25-14. In the men's section, ASC rallied to beat MEG 22-25, 25-18, 31-29, 25-18.

Savur posts win

Arvind Savur defeated D. Raj Kumar 1151-631 in a State ranking senior billiards tournament match at the KSBA Hall here.
