Narrow win for Arumugam XI

Coimbatore: Despite scoring just 99, Arumugam XI Patriots Cricket Club pulled off a thrilling nine-run win over Lakshmi Mills Colony Cricket Club in the TNCA-CDCA second division league for the Unidrive Line Trophy at the Forest College grounds in Coimbatore on Sunday.

The scores (Second division): Arumugam XI Patriots CC 99 in 40.3 overs (Vivekananthan four for 8, Senthil Kumar three for 13) bt Lakshmi Mills Colony CC 90 in 34.2 overs; Indian CC 176 for nine in 30 overs (Suresh 43) bt Best VP XI CC 81 in 29 overs (Vijay Kumar 41 not out, Manikandan five for 30); R.S. Puram CC 182 in 48.4 overs (Tirupathi Moorthy four for 30) lost to Suryabala Cricketers 185 for seven in 42.3 overs (Loganathan four for 10); Friends RC 76 in 20.1 overs (Manoj five for 19) lost to Sir Robert Stanes MC 77 for two in 27 overs.

Power Star wins

Power Star Cricket Club (Namakkal) posted a 139-run win over Rajaganapathy Cricket Club (Pandamangalam) in the TNCA-DCAN `A' division league at ICL Colony grounds in Namakkal on Sunday. R.S. Karthikeyan chipped in a fluent 54 for the winner.

The scores: Power Star CC (Namakkal) 209 for nine in 40 overs (R.S. Karthikeyan 54) bt Rajaganapathy CC (Pandamaangalam) 79 in 20.3 overs.

Volleyball tournament

The K. Venkkatesalu memorial volleyball tournament for girls organised by the Suguna Rip V. Matriculation HSS will be held at its premises here on November 14 and 15. — Sports Reporter
