Showcasing khadi

BANGALORE: A weeklong exhibition-cum-sale of products worth Rs. 4 crore manufactured by entrepreneurs in rural areas under the rural employment generation programme of the Union Government's Khadi Village Industries Commission was inaugurated at the corporation's community hall near Bhashyam Circle in Rajajinagar here on Monday.

The products ranged from leather and jute footwear from West Bengal, cotton and silk khadi, wood, pottery, Channapatna toys, and ayurvedic and herbal products are on display.

Apart from some States, entrepreneurs from Bidar, Bijapur, Koppal, Bellary, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Davangere, Mandya, Uttara Kannada, Bangalore Rural and Urban districts are participating in the exhibition.

Health and Family Welfare Minister R. Ashok inaugurated the exhibition.

N.L. Narendra Babu, MLA, and P.M. Janawadkar, District Officer, Bangalore Urban District, spoke on the occasion.
