Delhi beats Jammu

NEW DELHI: Host Delhi beat Jammu 2-0 in the men's badminton final of the 24th all-India Reserve Bank sports meet here.

The results:

Badminton (men's final): Delhi bt Jammu 2-0 (Rudra Kaushik bt Rahul Sharma 15-21, 21-9, 21-10; Rudra Kaushik and K. G. Saxena bt Rahul Sharma and Gurvinder Singh 14-21, 21-10, 21-12).

Carrom (men's final): Nagpur bt Bangalore 2-1 (Abdul Sagir bt G. Shiva 14-25, 25-8, 25-20; Anil Rambhed bt K. Dayalan 25-8, 25-20; Harish Hedaoo lost to H. K. Umesh 16-25, 26-6, 7-25).

Dileep dazzles

Dileep Dhunna's incisive spell of seven for 25 helped Salwan Boys School to a nine-wicket win over Ravindra Public School and enter the final of the Parle Cup under-17 inter-school cricket tournament here on Monday.

The scores: Ravindra Public School 60 in 21.4 overs (Ashish Yadav 30, Dileep Dhunna seven for 25, Vikram Dahiya three for 17) lost to Salwan Boys School 64 for one in 28.1 overs (Shobhit Kaushik 30 not out).

Delhi well-placed

Rahul Yadav was batting on 70 as he helped Delhi to a strong position against Bengal on the first day of the three-day Cooch Behar under-19 Elite Group league match in Kolkata.

The scores: Bengal 111 in 50.2 overs (Pradeep Sangwan four for 37, Ishant Sharma three for 19) v Delhi 132 for four in 47 overs (Rahul Yadav 70 batting).

Nassir, Chopra in lead

Nassir Wajih of the Railways and D.K. Chopra of the Ministry of Finance led with four points each at the end of the fourth round in the Inter-ministry chess tournament at the Nirman Bhawan hall here.

The results (fourth round): J. P. Srivastava (3) lost to Nassir Wajih (4); D. K. Chopra (4) bt Sunil Prabhat (3); P. Chakrapani (3.5) drew with J. M. Baisakh (3.5); Anil Kalsyan (3.5) drew with Nadeem Akhtar (3.5); Sukhwinder Singh (3) bt S. P. Mahato (2.5); B. K. Swain (2.5) drew with Ramesh Prasad (2.5).
