NEW DELHI: Putting an end to the week-long resignation drama, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma on Monday asked the party Councillors to take back their resignations and concentrate on preparing for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections due early next year. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Sharma said the Councillors had approached him this morning with the desire that they wanted to submit their resignations to the Mayor. "I told them that a lot of work remains to be done in the Corporation including identification of new roads and areas for mixed land and commercial use and some other important decisions also need to be taken. In the absence of the MCD Standing Committee or the MCD House, these decisions would stand pending creating further confusion in the minds of the people. Therefore, I asked the Councillors to take back the resignations and get on with the job," he added. Stating that the party continued to stand by the traders and lakhs of people affected by the sealing exercise in the Capital, Mr. Sharma claimed that a lot of good work had been done by the Corporation and accused the BJP of trying to tarnish the image of the Congress-led Corporation by indulging in false propaganda and misleading the people with wrong information.
