Vigilance Awareness Week observed

Staff members and students of Kola Saraswathi Vaishnav Senior Secondary School observed the Vigilance Awareness Week recently. Students of Standards IX to XII took part in the event. Elocution, essay writing and oratorical competitions were conducted as part of the event.

M. Swagath, Priyesh Patel and Ebenezer Manojcame first second and third respectively in the elocution competition. Priyesh and Ebenezer won prizes in the essay competition as well, along with Payal G. Punjabi.

For the essay competition students were asked to write on their role models. Priyesh wrote about Sardar Vallabhai Patel. He recorded the contributions made by Patel, with interesting details about the great man's childhood.

In the oratorical competition Harshita, Prerana Vyas and Devanashi emerged winners. The topic for the event was `Vigilance is not a wish list but a felt need for real growth'.

Senior students of P.S. Senior Secondary School celebrated `Math Day' on Monday.

"The programme is held every year to encourage students who are good in maths," said Vijayalakshmi Srivatsan, principal of the school.

A math quiz was also held for students of Standard X. Students of Standard XII conducted the quiz for their juniors. A paper presentation by students of Standard IX followed.

V. Balaji, professor, Chennai Mathematical Institute, who was the chief guest, assessed the papers.

He later participated in an interactive session with the students.

He appreciated the efforts put in by the students to learn the abstract subject. He distributed prizes to the winners.
