New office-bearers

CHENNAI: The general body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Owners' Association held recently in Chennai elected new office bearers for three years. The chairman is K.P. Natarajan, K.P.N. Travels, president: A. Afzal of Parveen Travels, vice presidents: Chandrasekar of Namakkal South India Travels and Anandmull Jain, Secretary: Suri of R.P.N. travels, joint secretaries: A. Sadiq of Parveen Travels and Selvakumar of Mettur Super Service and Treasurer: Maran of Bhagyalakshmi Travels.

The meeting resolved to promote passengers' facility and improve conditions of the terminus at Koyambedu and to abolish brokers and touts at the bus terminus.

Competition

The Srinivas Young Men's Association (SYMA), Triplicane, will conduct an inter-school competition on November 18 and 19 at the NKT Girls High School, Dr. Besant Road, Triplicane. It will include quiz, singing, fancy dress, drawing, oratorical and dance. The competition for drawing and fancy dress are open to all. For other competitions, entries will be through the schools only. Contact: 2844 1078.

Diabetes camp

As part of the World Diabetes Day on Tuesday, the Rajan Eye Care Hospital, in association with Sri Ranga Nursing Home, Diabetic Centre, Chengalpattu, organised a two-day comprehensive Diabetic Detection camp at Chengalpattu recently. Over 400 patients were screened by a team of doctors led by Dr. Mohan Rajan, medical director, Rajan Eye . Around 140 patients were advised for further treatment.

Workshop

Career Plan is organising a workshop on `Top-ranked MBA/MCA Colleges in Tamil Nadu — Their Entrance Exams and Selection Procedures". The workshop is on November 19 at 10 a.m. at the C.P. Adyar Centre. Contact: 4214 8494/2820 2287.

Vaccination drive

The Senior Citizens Bureau plans to conduct a `Flu Vaccination Camp,' in association with Solvay Pharma India on November 18 at Kumaran Hospital on Poonamalee High Road, near Sangam Theatre between 9.30 a.m. to noon. The vaccine will be administered at a cost of Rs. 480 for members of the Bureau and Rs. 500 for others. Details, contact: 2641 2030 or 2650 2424.

Health camp

Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Sankara Hospital, in association with the Lions Club of Silver Pearls, has organised a health camp from November 6 to 14. Around 450 students of the Panchayat Union Primary School, Sholinganallur are being screened. N.M. Madhavan, medical director will preside over the function.
