CHENNAI:
Chennai Mayor M. Subramanian on Monday inspected the Cross Road area in New Washermenpet following complaints of mixing of rain and sewage water and stagnation due to heavy rain.
He issued orders to the Metrowater to repair the sewer lines and to the Corporation officials to fog the place to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.
Streetlights
On complaints from public that streetlights were not functioning properly, the Mayor issued directions to the officials concerned.
The Mayor also inspected the desilting work in progress along the Buckingham Canal. A Corporation press release said the project would be completed by December.
This is part of the desilting work in progress at a cost of Rs. 4 crore along the Adyar and Kortalaiyar Rivers and the Cooum. The projects began in September.
