MANGALORE: Senior BJP district leader Monappa Bhandary has been elected the president of the District BJP unit here on Monday. In a simple electoral process Mr. Bhandary was put in-charge of the district BJP unit. Mr. Bhandary has earlier held various posts, including vice president of State Yuva Morcha, president of city unit and spokesperson of the district unit. He is also serving as the president of the district bar association. Speaking to The Hindu after the election Mr. Bhandary said the party unit in the district was in a fine shape. He said his immediate job was to prepare the party unit for larger tasks such as facing the Mangalore City Corporation election. The election is likely to be held early next year.
