Staff Reporter
Bangalore:
The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) on Monday held consultations with about 40 non-governmental organisations (NGOS) to discuss the provision of basic services to the urban poor under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
It may be recalled that the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board (KSCB) has placed a proposal for providing civic amenities to dwellers of 20 slums. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 181.56 crore. The Centre's share is to be Rs. 90.78 crore and that of the State Government 76.59 crore.
The remaining Rs. 14.91 crore is to be raised through beneficiary capital contribution.
The proposal is pending before the Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation.
