NEW DELHI: The Capital's annual date with international shopping will take off on Tuesday with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee inaugurating the 26th edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan. The fair is expected to see participation by over 7,500 firms from India and overseas. More than 30 countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, the United States and Britain will also be part of the fair. The firms will showcase a range of products and services ranging from engineering products to automobiles and electronics, household appliances and even handicrafts. Andhra Pradesh is the Partner State at IITF this time round. Tickets for the fair will be available at all Mother Dairy outlets, designated branches of the Central Bank of India and DTC depots. This has been done to reduce the crowd at the exhibition gate. The Trade Fair will be easier to get to this time round with Pragati Maidan metro railway station operational now. Special DTC bus service will be available to Pragati Maidan from Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Sonepat. The Northern Railway will also provide EMU trains with a special stop at Pragati Maidan from November 14 to 27. For the convenience of rail passengers, five local trains have been extended to Pragati Maidan, while two special trains will run from Patel Nagar to Pragati Maidan. Train No. PP-2 will depart from Patel Nagar Station at 12 noon to reach Pragati Maidan at 1 p.m., while PP-4 will depart from Patel Nagar at 1 p.m. to reach Pragati Maidan at 2 p.m.
