Wasting public money

It is often said that the right hand of the Government does not know what the left is doing. The road from Attakulangara Junction to Eenchakkal is a case in point.

Hectic construction activity is on to reconstruct the storm-water drains by the side of the road. The entire stretch of the drain is being rebuilt, just when the Government has initiated measures to expedite land acquisition for the roads project.

"It is a sheer waste of public money. The rebuilt drains will have to be demolished once the road is taken up for widening," a project official said.
