Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI : U.S. Technology Resources (USTRI), an Information Technology (IT) services provider, on Tuesday, launched its new facility at Sholinganallur, near here. C.Y. Lee, Head, (IT Services Centre) of DHL Asia Pacific, inaugurated the 45,000 sq. ft. centre, which would eventually employ around 2,500 people, according to the company.

Budi Utama, Vice-President, (Information Technology), of USTRI, said the company was looking at a "hub and spoke" model, under which its Thiruvananthapuram centre in Kerala and the new facility here would work with smaller centres that would be launched soon. USTRI's existing centre in Chennai would continue functioning and the company was considering opening facilities in several cities, including one at Kochi in Kerala, Mr. Utama said. He said the new Chennai centre, (2.25 lakh sq. ft.) would be utilised to expand the logistics and enterprise resource planning (ERP) businesses of the company.

Bharath Krishnaswamy, Head of Sales (India and South-East Asia), said the total investment in the centre, in which around 500 people were already employed, was around $12 million.
