This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru is 67 to-day (November 14). At the National Stadium in New Delhi, thousands of children wildly cheered the Prime Minister with shouts of "Nehru Zindabad" as he entered the Stadium to inaugurate the Children's Day celebrations comprising a mass drill, a march past, dances and folk songs. Mr. Nehru released a white dove symbolising peace and this was followed by the release of 67 doves by children marking his birthday. Among those who watched the ceremony were the Prime Ministers of Indonesia, Burma and Ceylon, members of the Central Cabinet, UNESCO delegates, MPs and diplomats. The Prime Minister, who appeared pre-occupied, did not address the students and towards the end just said: "Lots of love and blessings to you all. Jai Hind." A pleasantly warm sun shone as the Prime Minister went round the Stadium in a jeep decked with marigold and rose garlands.
