`Public Service Commission examination, case in point'

PATNA: The Rashtriya Janata Dal on Tuesday alleged that the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) had blatantly violated the reservation quota in selecting the candidates who had competed the preliminary examinations for the post of child development project officer (CDPO).

Shyam Razak, RJD spokesman, and party secretary, Bhim Singh, alleged that of the 4,435 candidates selected for the main examinations to be held in February 2007 only 18.39 per cent belonged to the reserved categories as against the minimum of 50 per cent quota to be set apart for them in the State.

Mr. Razak maintained that the clarification issued by the BPSC was not satisfactory and did not do justice to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Backward castes and backward women for whom the State has stipulated quotas.

The RJD took the stand that the SC, ST, BC and backward women candidates making it to the merit list were not supposed to be accounted for in the compilation of the reservation list.
