GIVING IT A SHOT: Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey trying out a camera after inaugurating a workshop and exhibition on videography and photography in Gulbarga on Tuesday.
GULBARGA: Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey said on Tuesday that the advancement of technology coupled with the liberalised economic policy had opened up new opportunities for the electronic media, making it a bridge between the Government and the people. Inaugurating the one-day exhibition-cum-workshop of the Gulbarga Photographers and Videographers Association at the Institute of Engineers Hall, Mr. Pandey said that the media played a very crucial role in influencing society, and using the latest technology, it should help guide society on the right path. He said that in the past, people had been able to view only one national channel, but now with the advancement of technology and the economy opening up, more than 175 channels were available to the people. He said the workshop would help impart to participants training in the latest skills.
Latest gadgets
Mr. Pandey also inaugurated an exhibition in which the latest gadgets available to the industry were displayed. Senior photographers of the district, including Baburao F Swamy, Lakshmanrao Kulkarni, Madiwalappa Athnur, Tulasidas N Mahendrakar and Mahalingappa Nelogi were honoured on the occasion. As part of the programme, the participants were allowed to use the latest cameras to capture on film professional models, including former Miss Tamil Nadu Mamta Rawat, Angelica Vadgoan, Sudha Hiremath, Sunita and Baby Rithika.
