Kozhikode: The city police took over the control of the NGO Association district committee office "Indira Bhavan" at Puthiyara here on Tuesday after a minor scuffle broke out between the activists of the Congress party and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The office will be under the control of the police till the Kozhikode First Class Judicial Magistrate's Court (II) decides on the issue. A case regarding a dispute between the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) (DIC(K) and the NGO Association is pending before the court. It is likely to come up before the court on Friday. The trouble started when activists of former DIC(K) workers, now with the NCP, barged into the office in the morning. They asked the NGO Association office-bearers, C. Ravindran and V. Abdul Razak, to vacate the office. Afterwards they locked the office with a lock they had brought with them. However the situation turned bad when a group of Congress workers reached the office, broke open the lock and replaced it with another one. This led to a scuffle between the activists of the NCP and the Congress. One person was injured. A police team, led by Kasaba Circle Inspector K. Hasainar, which reached the spot, brought the situation under control. The CI also convened an emergency meeting to settle the dispute. As the talks failed the police took over the control of the office. A case was also registered in connection with the incident on Tuesday.
