LSCA launches several tools

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis (LSCA) Centre of Excellence announced here on Monday by Agilent Technologies will provide the latest measurement and analysis equipment and tools for a variety of end users.

Agilent's mass spectrometry systems are of the kind used by sports authorities to test unauthorised use of performance enhancing drugs and by forensic laboratories to analyse physical evidence from crime scenes. Other tools can detect bio terrorism evidence well in time.

"Other applications are in pharmaceutical manufacturers. Many clients in that sector will now be expanding to a global market and think in terms of new drugs or modifications to existing drugs and our measurement systems will be used by them'' said Venkatesh Valluri, president and chief executive officer of Agilent Technologies-India. Mr. Valluri told presspersons visiting the LSCA Centre of Excellence that customers would be provided training, application support and sample analysis where needed and helped improve turnaround time for sample analysis.

Sanjeev Dhar, vice-president of Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis, said there were applications in other markets like environmental analysis.
