KOZHIKODE: City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay flagged off a rally organised by the District Child Welfare Committee from the BEM Girls High School ground here on Tuesday, as part of the Children's Day celebrations. District Collector A. Jayathilak presented bravery awards for children to P.P. Arshad (Pantheerankave High School); K. Sirajudeen; and V.P. Mohammed Rashad (Kayakkodi High School) at a programme held later. Jasmil Raju, Children's Prime Minister, welcomed the gathering. C.L. Yadu, Children's President, presided over the function. Prizes were distributed to winners in different competitions and cultural programmes held as part of the celebrations. Santwanan, a helpline of the Beach Hospital unit of the Kerala Government Nurses' Association, organised a programme for children undergoing treatment. Crayons, colour pencils and other drawing materials were distributed to the children. T.P. Mehroof Raj and K.P. Hashim, doctors, spoke.
