Winning start by GIC Re

MUMBAI: Host GIC Re got off to a winning start, beating Tata AIG by eight wickets in a Group A tie at the inaugural All India GIC Re Cup cricket tournament.

Royal Sundaram, Chennai, defeated National Insurance by seven wickets in another match.

The scores:

Tata AIG 212 (Mridul Gupta 56, Nitin Mistry 52, Mahesh Reddy 47; Jairaj Chitnis four for 33) lost to GIC Re 213 for two (Jairaj Chitnis 67 n.o., Chetan Shukla 50 n.o., Shekhar Amberkar 45). MoM: Jairaj Chitnis (GIC Re).

National Insurance 161 (Rajesh Dholepure 47) lost to Royal Sundaram, Chennai 161 for three (Kapil Malhotra 57 n.o.). MoM: Kapil Malhotra (Royal Sundaram).
