Mallya Aditi beats Don Bosco

BANGALORE: Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore staged a fine rally to beat Don Bosco, Kolkata 77-60 after trailing 27-34 at half-time in the first National School League basketball championship which got underway at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Tuesday.

A sluggish start saw MAIS struggle in the first quarter, trailing 10-23 before it fought back, riding on consistent scoring by pivot Mohd. Adeel, who accounted for 31 points. In the other matches, Everest Public School, Ludhiana defeated St. Paul's School, Salem 81-53 while St. Emphrem's School, Kottayam beat Don Bosco, Mumbai 89-71.

The results: Mallya Aditi, Bangalore 77 (Mohd. Adeel 31, Preetham 19, Nitin 12) beat Don Bosco, Kolkata 60; Evershine Public School, Ludhiana 81 (Dilwar Singh 53, Kanmonlakhar 15) beat St. Paul's School, Salem 53 (Ramakrishnan 23, Ram Kumar 20); St. Emphrem's School, Kottayam 89 (Saji Mathew 32, Nelson Jose 22) beat Don Bosco, Mumbai 71 (Kaustubh 22, Titus Andrade 11).

Vinay, Mithun win

Vinay Hari asserted his supremacy once again in the boys under-13 section, when he won the singles title with a 21-8, 21-7 victory over S. Siddarth in the final of the Narasamma memorial State-ranking badminton championship at the Malleswaram Association courts here on Tuesday. In the boys under-10 singles final, Mithun Manjunah beat S. Sudeep 21-13, 21-8 while Ajay Patil took the under-16 singles title with a 21-13, 21-13 win over K.R. Shankar.

RWF in semis

RailWheel Factory (RWF) entered the semifinals of the Industries cricket tournament beating BEML Sports Club, Mysore by eight wickets here. Batting first, BEML SC made 124 with Nagaraj for RWF taking four wickets. Good knocks from Praveen Pawar (60) and Mukesh (50) saw RWF canter to the target in 18 overs. Earlier, BEML, Mysore defeated BHEL (EPD) by five wickets.

The scores: BEML SC 124 in 32 overs (Nagaraj four for 32) lost to RWF SC 126 for two in 18 overs (Praveen Pawar 60, Mukesh 50).

BHEL (EPD) 124 in 29.1 overs (Ramachandra four for 29) lost to BEML SC 125 for five in 22.3 overs.

Bhaskar dazzles

B. Bhaskar notched up four century breaks (158, 115, 192 and 117) to outplay D. Raj Kumar 1259-759 in the State senior ranking billiards championship at the KSBA McDiowell hall here on Tuesday.

KSP wins

Karnataka State Police won both its matches in the women's section of the State `A' division volleyball league championship here on Tuesday. KSP defeated Shimoga 25-11, 25-19, 25-13 and later humbled Sports Hostel, Mysore 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19.
