Inter-varsity events to kick off today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The sports events held by the university of Kerala as part of its Suvarna Keralam celebrations will kick off with the inter-university cross country competitions on Wednesday. Syndicate member Dr. Rajan will flag off the men's race (12.5km) from the Kariyavattom campus and it will end at the Senate house campus at Palayam.

As many as 60 athletes — 36 men and 24 women — from MG, Kerala, Calicut and Kannur universities will take part in the event. The women's race (6km) will be flagged from the Panagappara Health Centre and will also end at the Senate House Campus.

The university will conduct an exhibition match between Kerala and Bengal Santosh Trophy football teams at the Chandrashekaran Nair stadium on November 29 as part of its Suvarna Keralam celebrations.

The university of Kerala will conduct an inter-university volleyball tournament at the St. Micheal's College, Cherthala on November 21 and 22. The university will also hold an inter-university football tournament at Kollam on November 27 and 28. — Principal Correspondent
