NEW DELHI: After having drawn a blank from the first two editions, India won three gold, four silver and 10 bronze medals in the 3rd Asian taekwondo championship, which concluded at the NDMC Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday. The gold medals came from Aishwarya Chandran and Jyotsna Singh, both in junior individual sparring, and the team sparring event. North Korea won the overall championship by winning 15 gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Kazakhstan, with 11 gold, nine silver and three bronze medals, was runner-up while Tajikistan (6-2-1) settled for the third place. North Korea also bagged the best male and female athlete awards. Pak Chol Sung won the best male athlete award while Jegal Un was adjudged the best female athlete, both winning four gold medals apiece.
