Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the State Government to allot candidates to the merit quota seats in the self-financing engineering, pharmacy and nursing colleges by November 24. Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair also extended the last date for completing the admission procedure in these colleges to November 30. The deadline for the admission procedure had expired on October 31. The court ordered that if there were still vacant seats after the government filled its seats, the managements could allot its own candidates to these seats. The directive came on a petition filed by the management associations seeking permission of the court to fill the vacant government quota seats in their colleges. They complained that the government had not yet allotted candidates for these seats.
Panel directive
The Admission Supervisory Committee, headed by former judge P. A. Mohammed, on Tuesday directed the management of Karuna Medical College at Palakkad to submit a detailed explanation on complaints that the admission granted in the management quota was `improper'. A sitting of the committee held here asked the management to submit its reply on November 20. The directive was given based on two new complaints that the admission to the management seats was not fair . The Committee also directed SUT Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram to submit an explanation on complaints regarding admission to its management quota. It observed that the management had not furnished its reply despite receiving intimations from the committee.
