CHENNAI: A month-long Italian roadshow will bring to the city an admixture of art and commerce that best personify the south European country. Hosted in five Indian cities, the Festa Italiana 2006 events in Chennai, starting with a workshop on woodwork machinery here on Wednesday, will showcase the best of `Made in Italy' products and services cutting across culture, fashion, food, textiles and chemicals. It is also being held in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore. The Italian festival presents an opportunity for the public to participate in a series of events ranging from seminars, lifestyle shows and B2B meetings. This is the first time that the stamp of Italy is being presented under a single banner with the support of the Italian Trade Commission, Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce, ENIT the Italian State Tourist Board, Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy and Consulate. "Apart from featuring Italy's pedigree in art, the events have been designed to project the country's capability to become a technology partner for a country like India," Vittorio Mecozzi, Trade Commissioner, Italian Trade Commission, Mumbai told a press conference on Tuesday. Sergio Sgambato, secretary general, Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said though the festival has grown over the last four years to be recognised a platform for Indo-Italian partnership, this year featured an added emphasis on furthering trade and business ties.
