T.S. Shankar

CHENNAI: A team of five global design architects from Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and the United Kingdom visited the Chennai airport on Tuesday for assessing the proposed site for a second domestic terminal adjacent to the Kamaraj Domestic Terminal.

The architects went around the five-acre site adjacent to the arrival hall of the terminal and the Airports Authority of India administrative office complex. "The architects will submit a detailed report within two months along with the futuristic design of the new domestic terminal-II to the top management of the AAI in New Delhi. The new domestic terminal-II, along with other expansion in the international terminal, is being done at the initiative of K. Ramalingam, Chairman of AAI," Airport Director Dinesh Kumar told The Hindu on Tuesday.

The architects also met the Airport Director and got themselves acquainted with the local situation and the needs of the "futuristic domestic terminal" and other requirements.
