YSR opens 150-bed hospital block

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy urged private hospitals to ensure that medicare was made accessible to the poor at considerably reduced costs.

He was speaking after throwing open a new building of the Rainbow Hospitals on the occasion of its completing seven years in neonatal and paediatric tertiary care in the presence of Health Minister K. Rosaiah. The new block has 150-beds apart from a Birthing Centre, Operation Theatre Complex, Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Obstetrics & Foetal Medicine Wing and an Obstetric ICU.

He said a concerted effort was needed to reduce the rates and this was where private hospitals could chip in and help the poor access quality medicare at concessional rates.
