HYDERABAD: Four riders, four monster bikes, 20,000 kilometres of road, a digital camera and a blog make a heady mix of adventure, pulsating speed and The Great Indian Road Trip.

After completing an arduous journey of 12,000 kilometres in 76 days, the four members of the Castrol-sponsored `The Great Indian Road Trip' made a brief transit in the twin cities on Tuesday.

The biker team of Sandeep Gajjar, Bunny Punia, Sunil Gupta and Aashish Divakaran have been interacting with 23,000 members of their ilk through a blog on their website, xbhp.com, which they have been updating with pictures and interesting incidents during their travels.

    Coffee table book

"We are planning to come out with a coffee table book with pictures and description of our trip. There are 23,000 members who have registered in our blog and they keep on reacting to our travel stories," informs Mr. Sandeep who updates the blog through his laptop.

The group started their first lap in New Delhi on August 15 and have traversed till Khardungla in Ladakh, which at 5,606 metres is the highest motorable road in the world and a gateway to Siachen Glacier.

"You can see these pictures in our website. This was the toughest part because of the altitude but still we could manage it. Yesterday, we travelled non-stop from Chennai to Hyderabad. It was 800 km and was pretty tough," said Mr. Punia.

    Off to Vizag

Sunil Gupta with a digital Nikon camera clicks away as his biker friends get ready for their next trip from the twin cities to Visakhapatnam. "I am the guy who handles the photography. This trip is not just about thrill of travelling but also about discovering new routes, interacting with strangers and above all appreciating the diversity and beauty of India," explains Mr. Gupta.

The bikers will culminate their journey in New Delhi, back where they began, on December 5.
