Climbs up hoarding unnoticed near Chaderghat bridge

HYDERABAD: An unidentified man aged about 35 years and suspected to be undergoing treatment for dog bite hanged himself from an advertisement hoarding near the bustling Chaderghat bridge on Tuesday. Though hundreds of commuters pass by the road, none noticed the man climb up the hoarding.

The Afzalgunj police received information around 3.45 p.m. that an unidentified body was hanging from the angler of the hoarding opposite Victory playground. "Condition of the body indicated it was only a few hours since he died. The death could have been prevented, but surprisingly none saw him go up," Afzalgunj Inspector P. Rameshaiah said.

A slip with the name Gopi, apparently issued by a private hospital to a patient being treated for dog bite, was found in his clothes.

Three drowned

Three youngsters -- one after slipping into the water of a tank while trying to pick a lotus flower and the other two while trying to rescue him -- were drowned on Tuesday at Kukatpally. While the body of one victim Narsinga Rao could be retrieved immediately, search for those of Mallesh and Nagesh till late in the night proved futile.

A case of suspicious deaths was registered.

Public cautioned

The Government has cautioned the public that some brokers were printing fake bar coded coupons in collusion with DPL operators for ration cards. Those who had information on the same could alert the authorities over telephone number 23326767 and be rewarded. Cardholders who could not draw PDA kerosene can also inform the nodal officer or assistant supply officers, said a press release.
