A special way to unwind

Special Correspondent

Rock concerts featuring big groups are being organised in four cities

Bangalore: This "cat" stands for the Common Admission Test for entry into the Indian Institutes of Management and other top B-schools, to be held on November 19.

The students who have gone through a year of slogging and cramming will later on that day get a chance to unwind, in a special way.

Rock concerts featuring some of the big names on the music scene are being organised on that day at four cities, including Bangalore, by JAM, "Just Another Magazine", popular with young people.

The concerts will bring the best bands each city has to offer; college bands that started small and have now become synonymous with the cities of their birth.

For Bangalore, if its Thermal And A Quarter (TAAQ for the college crowd) and Galeej Gurus, it will be Moksha in Chennai. Some of the CAT aspirants say the concerts will be the perfect way to chill out after taking what could be the world's toughest examination. The concerts are open to all MBA students and not just those sitting for CAT and entry is free.

The idea behind the event is that MBA degree holders today are walking off the beaten track. There will be television slots to promote the rock concerts and road shows two days before the event when invites will be given out to students. There will be contents on Radio Mirchi and other promos.

JAM is a youth oriented magazine with a participatory editorial contents style. It has 300 campus reporters across the country and also provides useful information on careers with a special emphasis on the career of business management. The journal also provides in-depth information about what goes into the making of B-school rankings.
